Looks like Bryopsis to me as well..

I have on a few scattered occasions heard of Tangs, Sea Hares, Urchins, and/or some crabs eating Bryopsis. However, those occurrences tend be abnormal, not the norm by any means. The only real sure-fire way I have heard of or used to get rid of them is a combination of:
-manual removal
-nutrient deprivation
-light deprivation
-elevated magnesium levels.
This is pretty spot on. Chad advised me to beat my previously terrible bryopsis problem with a combo of manual removal outside the tank directly followed by a hydrogen peroxide dip, raising mag via Tech-M, AlgaeFix (created cyano which covered the bryopsis), phosphate remover + replacing GFO.

Was close to shutting it down and this combo worked like a charm.

just do the tech m treatment
Don't over complicate things here.. First off, peroxide will only slow it down. If you want to throw the rock away, throw it over here and I'll take it. Tech M will destroy it and it won't come back. After Tech M has been used for a week, slowly bringing up the mag level to 1800 to 2000 for a week, introduce some turbo snails and a kole tang or two. Keep the levels at 1800 to 2000 for a month.
I didn't kill any coral or inverts. I had mine at 2000 for 6 weeks and keep it at 1500 consistently now. I only had it on a few frag plugs from trades with unknowing friends. It's not that bad. In fact, I get trades now and don't even sweat it when I see it on the frag.....it's usually gone in a couple days.

I've seen the kole tangs compete for this stuff in a tank....eating it like nothing after the Tech M breaks down the fringes and leaves the stocks..

There are numerous threads online where the Tech m killed the bryopsis temporarily, but after awhile it came back.

Will tech M kill bryopsis guaranteed? Yes
Is there still a chance it can come back? U bet

Yeah... I have to dose in addition to my reactor and I use the tech m. I go through about 25-35ml per day.
That might be why it continues to work.

Same as you... I also add calcium. It's a alkilinity reactor Nick. I add strontium, potassium, vitamin C, M, amino acids, and a few others.. the reactor is only a small part of the process..
I go through 6 gallons of RODI a day too..

I'm going through the same thing right now, I used all dry rock with a few little pieces of live rock for seeding. The way I am attacking this thing is by simple water changes, gfo and gac changed every two weeks. I should bump it to once a week but I cant afford that much salt. It took over every piece of rock in my display, I have been battling it for about a month now. Its been really up and down, it would start to recede then come back but lately I've been winning this battle, in patches its been turning brown and then white and dying off. I test Po4 W hanna and No3 with redseapro and salifert test kits, everything is at zero but unlikely due to the presence of algae.

No it's a calcium reactor... ;)

If ur having to dose calcium, ur reactor is under sized for ur system. My tank was loaded with SPS and my calcium never dropped below 420 (korallin 1502 on 200g). Granted they were mostly frags, but I've seen guys running Ca Rx with big SPS tanks full of HUGE colony's, and they never had to dose calcium. I would occasionally have to dose mag, even with the neo mag in the reactor.

Well there's the reason. If I wanted to keep my calcium at 420 and my mag at 1250 I suppose the reactor would be good. I dose to keep my alkilinity at a stable 9.5. That leaves my other levels deficient.

You have to use kent tec-m mag it is an impurity in it that kills the alge no the mag so dont waste your money on regular mag get the kent tec-m

Hmm. That doesnt really make sense to me. If u were to keep ur alk lower, lets say at 7, i could see how u might need to dose calcium . But 9.5 is on the high side. If anything ur calcium should be mid to high 400s. But I guess if its working for u, then no need to change it.

What reactor are u using, and how many gallons is ur setup?

PS I could manually dose calcium and bring it up, lets say to 450. Then my reactor would keep it stable at 450. I've just always left it at 420 and my alk stays around 8.5.

I have the aquamaxx s-2 reactor. My system is 350 gallons. I like to keep my calcium at 500 and my mag at 1500. If I didn't dose it would be at your levels...but I prefer them a little higher.

Me too....was wondering why mine was growing until I tested my rodi water and saw phosphate at 0.09.

Think I'm going to buy another unit. Anyone?
I haven't checked my tds meter lately. Maybe it's time to replace my filters. If I remember correctly it was at 0 when I was filling up my tank.

I absolutely agree with this. I was battling some bryopsis in my old tank. I used kent tec magnesium to raise the magnesium level in my tank. Slowly but surely the bryopsis started melting away. I helped remove it by siphoning more out during water changes also
