Hey everybody, so I got a few questions.

Does anyone have a designer clown that is hosting an anemone currently?

Is there a particular type designer clown that hosts anemones more often or toward a specific anemone?

Have you done anything that has worked to make the designer clown to host (such as the ghetto picture method, putting the clownfish and nem into a small tank together for a while, etc)?

Can you post some pictures of your designer clowns hosting please!!!

Thanks everybody!

The last clownfish I had was a maroon just because I knew he would host my rbta and he did the first night. He even attempted to get a feel of the anemone almost immediately after acclimated into the tank. I was surprised. But none of my other clowns even did but now I want some designer clowns that will host

I had a pair of black ice that found the bubble tip in a few weeks. Lost my livestock to velvet. I now have 2 snowflakes, 1 black and white & 1 orange and white. It's been a few months and they still could care less about the nem. Seem happy to host a coner of my sand bed!

It is hit or miss with designer clowns. Their instinct normally kicks in but I have heard stories of refers with designer clowns that won't host no matter what they tried.
I have had many clowns designed or not and none of them say no to the nems. However you might have to look at the nem also. Maybe it is "size matters" :)

I have two of ivan's babies and did the ghetto method with a small BTA and they have been inseperable since, except when one evicts the other. I almost feel bad for the BTA, it's really crowded since my anemone crabs, who mostly ignored each other until the nem arrived, paired up and are living in it too. :p I mean this is a 3" nem we're talking... but so far everyone's getting along.

Here you go... the nem was being grumpy, it's usually more inflated (it ate a few 1mm pellets immediately after when I fed the roomies). One of the clowns had evicted the other for a while. They're not paired up yet so they come, they go. :) You can see the frags for scale... so far the crabs and clowns completely ignore each other so hopefully that continues! I'm more worried about the nem being constantly assaulted by its occupants' antics. :| The bigger crab was teabagging the nem's mouth while it was trying to eat!

Here's another, you can't see the teabagger as well but you can see the clown's markings better. The crabs are completely unphased by the clown.

Oh, forgot to mention... that nem moved off a rock and about 15" to the spot it's at now and took the whole party with it. :thrasher:

I don't know what type of clowns these r but they love the ritteri anemones and won't go near the BTA and the maroon clowns r the complete opposite. They won't go near the Ritteris and only go in the BTA

I just got a rainbow nem for my Bali & black-ice clown, crossing my fingers!! Could not get the black-ice to host in my previous tank, 125g. I'm hoping a smaller tank might increase the odds a bit.
