I have a scheduled power outage from 9-3 according to SCE

I have this duracell inverter which should be fine for the mp40 to keep running, is there anything else I should be doing? or should I do the return pump?

I would do wavemakers, which is more efficient vs return pumps.

I’ve done this for my tanks. You don’t have time to order the parts & build it by tomorrow but it’s something for future references.

Yes - PITA to lose power in 2023 but SCE has shut me down several times before when I wasn’t home. Having automated failover system that can last days is definitely peace of mind for me.

Good luck!

Living in SoCal - I think everyone should consider redundancy not just for our reef tank but for ourselves. Ideally I would love a Tesla Powerwall but I don’t have solar. As an alternative, I have a Honda 2000i generator. It won’t have enough juice to run the whole house but I can run my fridge, electric pump for water heater, reef tanks (no heater) and small electronics like TV/Internet/cell phones. One gallon of gas can last me 6hrs and I have a 5g reserve, not counting our vehicles. So theoretically can run for several days.

I think portable solar panels / backup solution would be way more quiet and efficient. Curious what do you guys do?
