Just left for work and the power is scheduled to be off from 10am- 2pm. I set the tank up on a generator while I'm at work. Crossing my fingers and hoping it works like it should. Cross your fingers for me guys

They're crossed buddy. Is your apex plugged into the generator too?

Yes apex is connected. I just took the eb8's and plugged them into the generator. I took offline all non essentials so it basicly running pumps and heater

Nice! Next time run an extension chord to your router and modem and you can keep an eye on it from your phone.

OK so let's just say that what IF the the generator failed. Do you think I'd really have anything to worry about? The only concern I would have would be for the fish and o2 for them. 5 big tangs and a variety of taller fish in a 265 gal tank. I get home about 4:30-5. If the tank was off toll then go you think they would be OK?

It really depends I'd think. Will the house be the right temp to sustain the water temp? Doesn't have to keep it perfectly stable but at least close enough to where the overall difference won't be large. As far as oxygenation I would think with that much water volume you'll be okay.

And bottom line, you bought a quality generator seems like so I think you'll be straight.

Well idk what happened but sometime after I left the generator shut off. From the looks of the gas it was early on cause it didn't use any. So the tank temp was down to 74 not bad, everyone seemed OK except my vlamingi. He's breathing a little hard. I have the power heads all going pointed at the surface and skimmer back on so tank should get o2 back quick. Hopefully he'll be ok

Check the oil in your generator. A lot of them have a low oil switch that kills the ignition if low on oil.
That was the first thing I thought of but its good. I'll mess with it this weekend. My main concern is making sure the tank is good. I'll probably have a small ich breakout now from the stress but again that shouldn't be bad. They'll get feed well plenty of garlic and selcon.

Oh man, that could've been bad. Glad all is relatively okay.

You may want to add a battery backup to the router, modem, and potentially the apex brain (using an plug for the brain only). Those 3 won't suck a lot of power from the bb and will let you know when the generator goes out.

Yeah could have been real bad.
Some BB are now on my to buy list. If anything just for the MP's. Tangs are starting to swim around now so looks like they are feeling better.
