I've read review on both skimmers and they both appear to be excellent choices. I can use some help from reviews of actual users here to make up my mind. Pls let me know. Thanks.

There are a lot options around that price point. Why those tow skimmers, if you don't mind me asking?
It's for a 450+ gallon FOWLR tank. Among the ones sold by MD and LA, these are two that stand out from both price and function IMO, but I'm certainly open to suggestion. What do you have in mind?

The tunze doc is way better. Skimmers are all about the pump, performance & durability- tunze is well known to be make great pumps. Ive never had a red sea skimmer, but ive heard they dont perform. My old tunze doc from mid 2000s still works.

& I agree, there are better options than either now.

Wow, tons of options. Total water volume? Is there a sump? How much room do you have in sump, if so?

Reef Octopus makes some great, easy to use skimmers. RLSS and Aquamaxx are also very nice and efficient.

Tunze is a great company but, I haven't used any of DOC skimmers. Their pumps are solid, so that's a big plus. They look kind of undersized. I would want a bigger collect cup on that size tank.

The Red Sea skimmer isn't highly rated. That looks like a nightmare to clean, and again, that cup looks tiny. I have yet to hear anyone say they love this skimmer. It also looks like it need a feed pump, which is a negative in my book.

I had a super Reef Octopus 5000 SSS for my 120g fowlr and it was a beast. Eventually, it was easier to dump out 30g per week and replace with my used reef tank water (WC). Fish dont care about 100 nitrate. I sold that skimmer to another reefer, who says it works well.

Are you running a skimmerless 120g FOWLR?

Yes, for the past 3 years. It has 4 large angels and 2 tangs. I feed heavy and theyre fat.
Yeah I also share a similar experience. One time I had two large tangs (8" each), one 6" angel, one 8" MI, and one 8" trigger in a 125g. Ammonia was low but nitrate was 80 to 100 and fish were just fine. So are you saying I don't need a skimmer as long as doing regular 40% WC?
