Anybody happen to know off the top of their head how many cups of salt it takes to make 1.025 in a 5 gallon bucket? The recipe on the bucket is to make 1.021

Of course I do, hence why I asked if someone knew off the top of their head. I just started mixing and have quite some time to wait before testing so I just thought I’d take my chances with the fam

Ok I just started mixing 30 mins ago. Definitely need some time before checking but directions show half cup per gallon for 1.021 so I went and put 3 cups for 5 gallons. Gonna check later on. Thanks for feedback

Make sure you have an air stone while mixing. It helps

Never heard of that. What’s it supposed to do? Create some sort of aeration that helps with mixing?

Although the Reef Crystals solution may be used immediately, we suggest aerating the water until it achieves oxygen/carbon dioxide equilibrium.

I can’t just make sure I leave it mixing for a while? Or is an air pump the only way to achieve that?

I mean you can. I just do what the manufactures states. I do mix overnight with an air stone.

well i know that 16 lbs will do 50 gals

I suggest getting a 10g plastic brute trash can. Gives you a little more room to work with. Plus if your salinity mix is to high you have room to add RO water.

Hmmmm guess Im gonna have to get an air stone then. What can I test for to make sure I proper gas exchange?

Hmmm I gotta look into the 10 gallon then. I know a 50gal brute container is way too big for my apartment balcony, which is where my little mixing station is lol thanks

Not sure you need to get that elaborate, just an air stone while you mix. I have a pump, heater and air stone connected by a power strip. When I do a water change, I let it run for a few minutes and start adding it to the tank.

Ok yeah cus I’m doing the basic powder hesd and heater mix method in a bucket. I’ve heard as long as I let my water sit for a day or two it’s the same thing… is that true?

5 gal usually 3 cups depending on temp. I toss a powerhead in the bucket for 30mins then test
