Hey Guys,

I've been searching for a in-sump return pump that can push around 1300 gph, is very efficient (electricity-wise), and is pretty quiet (doesn't have to be silent as it will be in a remote sump).

I've found two that intereste me:

> WaterBlaster HY 5000 (1300 gph and 60W consumption)- this would be my first choice because of the low wattage
> Eheim Compact+ 5000 pump (1320 gph and 86W consumption)- this uses 26 more watts and will actually end up being 52 more watts because I'm running a dual return (so 2 pumps). I like the name and quality, but is it worth the increased electricity bill?

Any other pumps that fit this criteria?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Chad

The Water Blaster is great. I've had it for almost a year now without any issues. The disadvantage is that the Water Blaster hasn't been around as long though, so there isn't a long term track record, but I haven't heard of any failures or problems yet.

Eheim is a safe pick that has lasted the test of time, and is a little cheaper than the WB iirc.

+2 on the tunze. There actually was similar thread a little while ago where several hyped the tunze and one slammed water blaster fwiw.

flowstar 1800 is the good for the wattage but not the wallet.
Geez! I didn't realize how expensive flowstar pumps were! I've never looked into them before, and when purchasing two, it would really add up.

The wattage is a little better than Eheim, but not sure 6-watts per pump is worth the upfront cost.

Still kind of torn between WaterBlaster and Eheim... decisions, decisions...
:conf44:

Thanks,

Did you mean eheim instead of tunze? Do you happen to remember what they said about waterblaster? Or do you have a link to the thread?

I'll try to look for it.

chad from experience my buddy got a waterblaster brand new out of the box making knocking noise this could be only 1 in 1000 but i would not want to be 1. if the flowstar is not in the budget go with ehiem its trusted and proven no question asked. or maybe just test out the waterblaster. really up to you.

Yeah... I might just go with the proven Eheim until WaterBlaster builds up their reputation (or at least is around longer without any problems).

Thanks for everyone's input... still open to more feedback!

Yeah, eheim, lol. The thread was last month and a guy with a greenhouse said he went thru 6 waterblasters and they failed. Never heard much about them other than that.

Thanks... that's definitely pushing me more in the Eheim direction.

Anything Eheim is always high quality in my opinion!

Is the Compact 5000 the new version of the 1262?
I don't think so... I think its a different model entirely (from the typical Eheim Pumps) because it is supposed to be more compact.
