I rebuilt an old vertex puratek. I’m using 2 75 gpd membranes. The 2 waste lines T into a single drain and then go through the auto flush system. Should my flow restrictor be 75 gpd or 150 gpd? My municipal water sucks. It’s basically well water. Should I use a less restrictive flow restrictor? I’m running a chloramine monster and 3 carbon blocks before the membranes.

Thanks in advance Vance’s for the advice

i use a 550ml/min flush valve for my 150gpd system which is the same as yours 2x 75gpd membranes
i think the flow restrictor is based on the individual membrane size and not the total gpd capacity

Thats what I’m thinking. This was a 1:1 unit but I don’t think that the stock restrictor is either bad or not good for other membranes. I’m thinking of getting both restrictors and see which give me a lower tds output.

keep us updated, I find myself having to replace my restrictors every couple of months as they start getting too noisy, but haven't thought of trying a larger size

Will do. Theoretically speaking, the larger one should produce better quality water since it doesn’t build as much back pressure to push more tds through the water

Put the 75 gpd flow restrictor on and tds dropped to 13/14 tds. The 800cc restrictor will be here on Tuesday

So after a few days the tds climb up to 21 with the 75gpd restrictor. I installed the 800 restrictor today and it made a huge difference! I have new membranes and housings coming in. I’m sure good membranes will drop tds even more.

Well, I’m bought a 800 flow restrictor with a manual flush valve and some 75gpd membranes from BRS. The flow restrictor is loud and I get better tds numbers from the regular barrel type restrictor. I found some membrane housings with a built in pressure gauge. I think they look way cool haha. Anyway, I’m getting higher numbers with the BRS membranes that with the Amazon ones. When these get spent I’ll try 99% rejection rate membranes and see where we get with those.

Well, here a picture of what it looks like now

TDS creep is a mofo! I added valves so I can let product water go to the waste line, when I first start production, until the tds drops. Once it drop to around 15ppm I switch things so it can go through the triple di chambers.

I don’t know much about tds creep but I’ll start researching it. Next time around I’ll check out the spectrapure 99% rejection membranes.
