Man, I kind of want a 3rd Interrupta. I keep on thinking how nice my pair looks together and how much BETTER a TRIO would look!
I think all angels should be kept as pairs, their mood and behavior is much more interesting and natural. It's almost like they don't even realize they're in a tank anymore. The nightly dances are cool to watch.

I have a trio of potter's in my home tank and that was awesome until the medium one started turning into a male. Now the poor guy is miserable and constantly gets chased to his corner. He is also constantly trying to mingle with the female which pisses off the dominant male and throws the whole 'pair' thing out of whack. Every time the dominant male and female start their nightly routine the small male interrupts and chaos breaks loose. Too much tension in the tank now.

Might be best to stay with a pair.

Wow I never knew that Aaron. I just assumed that the dominant angel would turn into a male and the other two would become females.

Thanks for the awesome tip and saving me from a headache!

It might be a random thing with angels but I've heard of others with similar experiences. Seems like a lot angels inevitably turn to males even if there is another dominant male in the tank. So you end up with 2 males.

Anthias are not this way, I've had multiple nice male anthias in a tank only to end up with one male and a bunch of female anthias in drag.
