damn sorry to hear dude

i guess you could try an aquabiomics test, but best case it tells you of some scary bacteria and then.. idk what you do from there
Yeah my thoughts pretty much. I'll get results and not really understand them and or how to correct anything. I will say I've been having cyano issues which is new to me for the most part. Maybe something is off on a bacterial level still.

I know when I started my 90g I had all kinds of heavy metals show up. I did rinse once, but it wasn’t enough. Nearly lost everything from my previous tank. I’ve already rinsed my nano several times, but when I mix up the fresh saltwater, I’m hitting it hard with polyfilter, cuprisorb and carbon, then sending off an ICP. I hope you find the source. Keep us posted.

That could definitely be a possibility then. I’ll order some cuprisorb amd get that in the mix. Maybe ill do a large water change. My uptake has completely halted now.
Before the holidays I had ordered a piece from CE, CC hellboy. It came yesterday in the mail. I dripped that and a freebie he added, up in smoke over night. That’s telling me this isn’t a delayed reaction from the move. Something is up for sure.

Oh man, that really sucks! Maybe a Triton test could get you quicker results? I think Unique’s machine is back online? Maybe give them a call and see?

i used cuprisorb and this stuff to remove my metals. tbh the detox stuff worked best i think
Thanks Matt. I'll check that out if I end up with something in the ICP. It specifically states only to use it if you get a result indicating heavy metals. So I'll probably just run coprisorb for now.

I'll try to hit them up and see. I'm thinking by the time I get one and send it off I'll only save a few days with the weekend so close now.

I contracted the vid for xmas so I'm stuck ordering everything online for now while I isolate.

Damn, dude! Hang in there. If you need the Triton detox, lmk I have some leftover from when I used it after setting up the 90g. It definitely works. I can mail it to you? Just text me and I’ll drop it in the mail ASAP.

I'm pretty good so far, thanks man!

The only hesitation I have is it stating on Triton's site to only use once heavy metals are detected. Not sure why that is?

Yeah, I'm not sure why it's stated that way? I used it once and it did the trick. Might have to do some research on that one? Feel better.

GFO will bind some metals, also use pollyfilter. It’s expensive but it’s pretty impressive. Get the big pad for your sized tank.

I’ve got a bit of that just worried I’ll strip nutrients too and possibly shock the ones holding on. I pulled my poly filter, no color change but I’m not sure what ppm it would take to actually show the presence of heavy metals.

Getting my ass humbled right now. The chromis are panting heavy and I lost the eight line wrasse in QT along with 1 chromis. So they’ve got something.

I don’t see any pink or sore like spots. The wrasse was stuck to the tunze so it’s hard to tell what’s what.

I pulled all rock and sand from the tank. Dosed kanaplex for now. I’ve got some chloroquine phosphate I think I’ll dose that, possibly along side GC for the remaining chromis unless anyone knows of complications from doing those at the same time?

Stripping nutrients is less acutely dangerous than metal poisoning.

There are thousands of compounds which our ICP tests do not test for.

sorry to hear man, when it rains it pours

i'm not familiar with chloroquine myself, from following some of the humblefish vendors not much touches uronema these days and most just refuse to stock chromis anymore. there's a canadian vendor that was experimenting with tea tree oil baths, pure metronidazole, along with formalin baths iirc, quite the treatment

https://humble.fish/community/index.php?threads/uronema.13/post-184457

i think that's the latest he has said anything about it

I’m assuming that your nitrates and phosphates are good. You mentioned that you had cyano lately. You might need more beneficial bacteria. I think you should add some microbacter 7 and microbacter clean to your tank. Just a suggestion.

Chasing heavy metals is like chasing a ghost. If you suspect heavy metals, then dilution via water change may help. But it’s like a ghost, not sure if it exists.
