So I've been told that red and blue combo led lights don't grow chaeto on another forum. That the experts say 6500k is the best light for growing chaeto. Well if that's the case then what in the hell am I using my hydroponic grow light to grow chaeto for! I should be using it to grow money. O wait if I'm growing chaeto with it then maybe.......... Just maybe red/blue combo led can grow chaeto. Maybe u guys/gals can be the judge. Cause other people across the country/globe seem to think it can't be done.

Ok, so earlier today I just pulled most of the chaeto out of my fuge. I do this at least once a month. Here's what I pulled out today

Does that look like red/blue LEDs can grow algae?
Here's what my fuge looks like now.

And for u that don't believe it's a full bucket here u go

Wow your chaeto looks nice, do you tumble it? I always thought the red spectrum was better for photosynthetic plants...

Thanks for sharing. That is a ton of watts for a fuge, I'm wondering if it's not so much the spectrum/color as it is sheer force of light intensity in this case? I'm thinking a low wattage (20-40 watts) fuge light of all red/blue would not work as well. Would be an interesting experiment. People do get hung up on spectrums but it seems like intensity can be an overriding factor?

Cause I live to far from the buyers and it's not worth the drive.

No tumble. I found when it tumbles it breaks up and then goes into my tank and my dam tangs eat it. Then they poop out white hair ball looking craps.
