It's dry sand. Good: you get more sand for your money Bad: it isn't kickstarted with bacteria.

I took advantage of this as well. I almost feel sorry for MD because I'm sure they get screwed in shipping costs. I actually tried to order from PetSmart because I'd rather screw them over than MD but PetSmart said they couldn't deliver the product to my address.

MD calculator said 223lbs for 2" bed. I think 180-200 and you'll be fine. Order 4-5 bags
