you mind sharing where in your tank, what flow, any advice you think; want mine to color up but more important I would really like some pe of some sort. No offense if you dont wanna share. Worse case scenario hi-light hi-flow is the way to go!!! Good luck with your frag.

i have mine in the center of my tank about as high up as i can go. it has flow from both sides that switch back and forth from a current switching device. it gets a pretty good blasting i think but at the same time i dont over power it. i think the par in that area is high 400's. i may move it if i think its too much but right now it seems to be doing ok. it has only gotten better so i think im good. its slow but when i get 2 part going i think i may see some pick up.

travis,

is your frag really that short?!?! it looks like its only half an inch. when i went to AIM i did not see one that short, they all looks to be around the same. (1inch) can you take a better pic please? please take it from a level angle so the pic is considered acurate.

and i agree, we will all have show stoppers, just some faster then others lol

all the frags are the same, if yours dies and nobody else then its just your tank. i would say a vast majority would have to die before we call it anything but a fluke

This thread is only for the contestants for the SPS Growout contest ONLY.
Please post your before photos, tank info, maintenence, supplements etc here. All updates will go here as well. There will be no off topic discussion made in this thread. Only your coral photos and blog. This will help keep the contest organize.
All other post will be deleted.

You must post on this thread to be eligible for the contest.
LAST DAY TO POST ON THIS THREAD IS SUNDAY FEB 20!

1. Everyone will receive a ~1inch frag. You must take a photo of the frag the day you receive the frag along side a ruler and post the photo on here.
2. You must include a brief overview of your system including lighting, flow, tank size, supplement, etc. The frag must stay in the same system throughout the whole competition
3. You must include a photo of your frag every 2 weeks up until the end of the competition.
4. 3 months from the start of the competition MAY 16, 2011, the frag with the most growth will be the winner. Its tough to be technical because we know sps branches, so the mods and I will determine the winner from the before and after photo the winner. The final photo has to be place up against a ruler again.

Prize: Will be
1)a 50 dollar gift certificate to Aquarium in Motion

Mine is starting to do the same thing... Very subtle, but it looks like a good sign

Ok so i'd say its a hair over 3/4" I took 2 pics. My tape measure has a metal end that slide back and forth like 3/16" Anyways one pic is it pulled all the way out and the other pushed in. when i flipped the tape around on itself looked like the metal end needed to be pulled all the way out to be an inch. If you look closely at the pic's you'll see what im talking about. You can see the movement mark on the tape. Anyways hope it makes sense.[/ATTACH]

I guess i'm out.
mine bleached out.
was fine last night, came home from work to find it completely bleached along with a third of my Staghorn colony. :bawling:
My other 2 colonies and 24 pieces of SPS are just fine.

Water Par:
Gravity 1.024
Temp 80
PH 8.2
Ammonia 0
nitrate 0
nitrite 0
phosphate .2
calcium 430

don't have tests for Mag, Iod, Str, or Alk but how could all the tests above be just fine and not those 4?

I moved the water flow just a little bit on Monday.
