Maricultured equals a diver took a large piece from a wild colony and made smaller frags and let them heal and grow in a bay where they can harvest them to sell.

Tank raised is that wild or maricultured piece now having proven time in a reef aquarium.

Buying named pieces from hobbyist will not only save you money in the long run but will also make you a responsible reef keeper along with a supporter of sustainable coral.

Tank raised also means someone saw that the certain coral had striking features and deserved to be kept and preserved.

A lot of maricultured pieces will not retain their coloration in captivity. And like most of us know certain ones just don't make it no matter how bad a$$ you are at keeping coral.

Don't waste ur money on mariculture pieces. I've seen people with well established SPS tanks, and mari colonies just STN/RTN out of the middle of no where. U can spend a little more money on home grown frags and long term u will have saved urself alot of money
