Now I know that sps need a great need of lighting, and I have my MH to take care of that, but my questions are. Does a tank need to be well seasoned b4 sps can be added, and does flow matter in a great deal??. Also please inform me If there are any other things that I need to know. Thanks

My Tank Build
#2
Different species off sps require different environments. Most like high alternating flow with intense lighting. I've found that prociliporas like to be towards the bottom of my tank with less lighting and lower flow. My millie's like the flow with not the intensity of the lights right above them. So I put them in the middle. I will try them out in spots be for I mount them. To make sure they like where there at. The one thing to watch with sps is no3 levels and po4 as well. But u would prefer to keep every level in line for them to thrive. So I recommend u buy all the test kits first and test ur water regularly to keep the water chemistry right. After time u will learn to spot warning sighs in the corals when some thing is not right but until then test, test, and test some more

Millipora is a specific type of acro. It's one of the more difficult to keep of branching corals and I wouldn't recommend it for a first timer.

Try some Birdsnest, Poccillapora, and maybe a Tenius/Stag-ish type frag.

A few others have mentioned before. You need to have lots of lights (which you have with your MH), plenty of water flow, and all your basic parameters in check. I would make sure you can properly check Alk/Cal/Mag, PO4/NO3. This ensures your tank is cycled and your fish are living happily in the tank. Make sure you have no SPS eating fish like Angels. If you got that down, then your ready to try. Start with easy corals like Monti, Pocillipora, birds nest. Millies and other across are pretty tough for a beginner, you may be sending them to their death if you don't know how to take care of them.
