I'm upgrading from a 60 gallon (36x20x20) to a 120 (48x30x20).
The 60 has been running for almost a year it's a mixed reef.
I'm going to have to add more dry rocks and sand.
Should I pre-cycle the dry rocks and sand?

I was thinking of putting the dry rocks and sand in a bin with 10 gallons of water from the 60 gallons, marine pure balls that is over a year old and some Dr. Tims one and only run for about 3 weeks

If its dry rock then you should be fine. But make sure it doesnt have any dry organic materials if unsure cure just the rock. The sand should be fine if you cycle it then move it all out then you will into issues with the sand.

Rule of thumb is always use new sand unless you want to go thru the trouble of rinsing and cleaning out current sand bed.

How long should rocks cycle b4 I add to new tank?
Usually test the parameters of the nitrogen cycle. For curing monitor Nitrates and phosphates. but usually take couple of months depending on the rock. There are good BRS video on them if it seems like a lot of information to observe.

You have a good plan. I would cycle as long as possible if using dry rock. Many people have had issues when using dry rock.
