Getting tired of cleaning the bare bottom. Coraline starts growing then a film algae green brown takes it over. Thinking of adding crushed coral. Can't have sand to much flow.

I think crushed coral will be more troublesome. How about a GSP carpet? Just got to make sure they don’t touch your main rock work

GSP would like sting a coral if it fell on it. Can't really go that route. Might just cover the whole bottom in euphillia.

Positioning pumps differently should be fine. Or even looking into a sea swirl. Ppl had sand beds not to long ago exclusively
Don't think I ever had sand to be honest. Maybe my first reef tank but can not remember. Wait yeah i did a diamond goby through sand all over my prized acans killed them ALL. Sand came out that night.

check out tropic eden sand, they have the tonga reef flakes and tonga reef flakes grand select which might work better for you. their sand is much more uniform in size compared to crushed coral and imo it looks better

Sounds like that was a goby not the sand. Many other sand clean up crew options

Just keep it bare bottom. There’s always going to be pros and cons to either choice. Sand gets ugly too if it’s not cleaned. Pick your poison is what it comes down to lol. I Vote bare bottom tho. I feel like it stands out more.
