Before you label me a complainer, let me first say that I am a member of about 12+ forums. 3 other fish/reef forums, 3 truck forums, 2 BBQ forums, 3 Photography ones, and 2 Music Production ones.
So i know what im talking about. im by no means a newb.

As much as i love this forum cuz its made up of so-cal reefers,

ITS DREADFULLY SLOW!!! :afraid:

Pages take anywhere from 3-5 seconds to load.

Don't know if 3 to 5 seconds is slow with other people's standards, but is for me. My internet connection is 18 megs and i have the newest biggest Apple iMac. So its definitely not a connection/computer problem.

Im gonna make a guess that socalireefs has been growing quickly and the servers are being overloaded. Hows about poppin in some more ads in return for quicker page loads?

just my two cents

Wow!!!! 3-5 seconds?? What will I do with all that time??

Walking into somebody's house & instantly complaining about it, isn't cool...............

Please quantify. The size of the load is somewhat higher than other boards but some speed tests I just ran show the site is running at an average speed. I have time for a couple second lag now and then. Unlike some other boards I've yet to have it lock-up when going from page to page and deliver a line error message.

Dude!! It's not that bad. Not to mention we as users get to play here for FREE. 3-5 sec. is nothing to complain about.

As the site loads the status bar sometimes seems to hang on some goggle URL. RC does the same thing but there it's the big-boards.com link

having the server be dedicated is major. im not familiar with how this board is set up, but thats probably the most important thing. when it comes to php and stuff im no expert, but im just saying, sites such as this often have a lot of people posting a lot of pictures at the same time. it slows things down.

im all for having more ads in exchange for faster page loads.

btw... right now its 11:30 am. most people are at work, and therefore not on the forum. so its loading very quickly. this is how it should be all the time. but when its after 5 and everyone is here getting their type on, that changes everything.

Or SCR can charge members a "Premium membership" that will bring extra funds to the admin to allow for server upgrades.

But I wonder how many members would pay for that? Not many IMO...........

Hey Todd, I appreciate your input and hopefully in the near future I will be able to upgrade the server. I guess this lag shows that this forum is growing:D But an upgrade should hopefully be in the near future.
