So I have a regal angel in qt. He's been in there 4 weeks and is eating pellets aggressively now. I don't see any signs of disease at all. He doesn't scratch or twitch, just cruises around and waits for food when I walk by.

I have prazipro and am wondering if I should treat him. I don't want to stress him if I don't have to because in afraid the meds might surpress his appetite and it was hard enough getting him to this point already.

Any thoughts?

I had my regal in QT for six weeks. I medicated him with General Cure (Prazi and Metro) in it's food for internal parasites. It didn't hinder it's appetite. It also didn't have signs of flukes. It's a tough call. Can't really tell ya what to do. I think if I didn't notice anything in six weeks, I'd let it be. But that's just me.

If it were me, I'd minimally medicate with prazi for at least a week just cuz it's an angel and they're prone to have flukes. I personally think prazi is a pretty safe med and even if it curbs their appetite, it usually returns pretty quickly after treatment. I talked to Karen recently and she also gives a very mild Formalin bath every third day for 45 mins each time for three times. Lastly she does the TTM. This is the QT protocol they used at the Waikiki aquarium when she worked there and they had great success with it and have gone on to successfully breed and rear fish after.

Thanks!
I say if it doesnt show any signs of disease then y treat it and possibly cause stress? Sounds like he's ready for the DT
That's what I'm hoping but wanted to see what u guys thought.
What specific gravity do you run in the QT?
1.026, I'm using DT WC water for the qt.
also you should soak the food in a multi vitamin to ensure a healthy specimen
I tried this but he didn't like the smell. He was eating at the LFS but lost appetite when in my QT. He would pick at the pellets the most. Then live brine helped and now he likes the pellets. I'll give the garlic and selcon another shot since he's eating. Thanks.

Thanks, good info. Perhaps I'll try a treatment and stop if I see adverse effects.

I would treat it to make sure it is bacteria free. I think Prazipro is safe med to use.To make sure, just do 1/2 dose and slowly increase it and watch to see any effects on your angel.
