Well finally after about 2 months or so of focusing back on my tank after over 2 years of neglect I have finally got my po4 from .25 to absolute 0..had to check it twice with the hanna. Although I guess I shouldn't have been to surprised. The cyanocobalamin mess has been cleared up for a couple of weeks now. Very happy with my tank right now.

It's been a slow battle of 20% water changes weekly. Vodka dosing upto 5 ml now daily ramped up from a .5 ml start. Carbon/gfo upto 1 1/2 cups now of gfo..hopefully I can scale that back expensive stuff.

It definitely shows corals are happy what few are I'm there.

How's your tank going

Still hanging in there..or pretty sold everything.

Think I should clean the back glass. Debating to leave it natural or clean it off
Hanging in there for the time being. Still have some corals, especially those that have grown onto the rocks and of course the fish...

Nice looking tank and like the rock work. Keep up the good work. I clean off the glass every 3-6 mths as the algae seems to grow everywhere. Think it looks cleaner personally.

First of all, i love your aquascape.

Secondly, generally speaking, absolute 0 p04 is not necessarily a good thing as corals need it. If you start to see your corals get pale -- not bleaching, more like muted coloration -- you may want to up the po4 a little.

This happened to me, so i took my po4 offline and started feedling more.

looks good man. what size tank you working with? how about an equipment/stock list/dosing regime?

as for your back glass I've always just let it be (mainly because my last tank was 8' lol and pain to clean such a large space). That being said I've also seen a number of tanks with coral growing on the black glass and they look pretty sweet. the coral prevents having to clean it for the most part and adds a bit of extra color. most they've used faster growing corals such as polyps.. I've personally used gsp because I love the look but have always been afraid of putting it on my rock work and having it grow to plague proportions/out compete my more desirable goods. Then I'd just cut out a square and scrap it off with a razor blade for an easy couple of bucks. I've seen it done with chalices as well. my understanding is coral grow faster on glass and acrylic because they're trying to expand to an area where it can get a better grip.

lastly I'm digging all the purple in the rock. can't wait for mine to color up. unfortunately on my last tank the coraline was mainly green and tan which sucked because it looked a lot like algae.

Thanks most appreciated

is that the big tank that was in your garage a few years ago? I saw it when I got some coral from you I think
Actually that's my 180g I am selling now. It's broken down. To much to take care of 3 tanks..went down to just 1 at 120g in my house.

And most definitely agree. I would have been happy with .01-.05. Last I check though I was at .09. So I will pull back a little on the gfo and the vodka till I get it dialed in.
Seems I have gone the opposite direction now. I like to know that there is some po4 so I am not just stripping the tank and wasting money overdosing

Thanks for the advice. I like the way the tank looks with the back wall dirty looking at it personally but looking at those pictures it looks really bad I think leave it for now I suppose.

Current tank info is
120g Leemar corner overflow
2 400w halides
1 ocean revive led fixture
6 t5s (these are old and being replaced by the leds)
Geo calcium reactor
BRS gfo/carbon reactor
SC aquariums 180 skimmer
Apex ACJR controller ( really want to upgrade this to the new one)
Gyre for flow

Dosing consists of
Daily of
5 ml vodka
5 drops of logos iodine
2 tsp of kalk straight in the sump.

also recently started dosing bright wells products
Coral amino
Bacteria
Snow
