I believe that is the batch number. If I remember correctly, the expiration date was on the box.

Double check readings on another hanna, get the average the of the two and then set trident numbers to the Hanna numbers.

So add the Umbers of the different test kit and calibrate with the calibration fluid?

I am not a fan of hannas, but if you know someone with a extra set, do a double test on 2 different ones, write down the averages, or even take it to a LFS and have them do the test and then average it with your hannas then just take a little tank water and calibrate it to the results you have. Every tester has a error range so find ones that you enjoy and work good for you and stick with it. You could always send in a ICP test after doing a test to confirm what the real numbers are then take tank water and hold it until you get results then use that for calibration.

I personally don’t worry if the ICPs match my Hanna’s, of course ICP is going to be the most accurate. I use my tester to follow trends not actual numbers. If shits trending up or down is what matters. Depending on the situation is then determines how the situation is handled. Plus you have to remember the +- of every checker meaning you very well could be in range of what your ICP is reporting

I don’t use the calibration fluid from Trident since I’m using ABC reagents and they don’t provide calibration fluids. So I take a sample of the tank water and use my Salifert test kits to measure Alk/cal/mag. Then I take those numbers and input them into the calibration of the trident, and have it calibrate to those numbers. Done.

if you have a calibration fluid, then I would double check that fluid with the Salifert test kits to confirm it’s correct. Then put the numbers from the salifert it while calibrating from the calibration fluid.

I read this wrong and thought triton instead of trident however my comment still stands. Use it for trends not the exact numbers

Trident has weird results from time to time, So I would not use it to control anything. It’s a good tool to verify trend. I see a few weird results and I take a look if anything is wrong. Like this example, I will probably take a Salifert test to verify what is the real calcium. And I would check the tubing and see if anything is off.
