Not sure if this is the correct thread but yea…my kid tossed a toy at the screen and broke it. This was my first tv when 4k tv was first introduced. Very sentimental tv. It’s a Sony xbr-55x900b lmk if you guys know anyone or a place I can get it repaired at thanks in advance. U can text me at

If you could find the same model (and revision) with a burnt out power board or controller board and a good display, you could move your parts to that unit. It’s not all that difficult to work on them at the PCB level, parts just plug in.

But yea, 4K ultra will be 1/3 what you paid for that XBR and will knock your socks off.

Remember, it’s going to cost you roughly $1M for each child by the time they get through college. $1-2K for a TV is small Potatos.

FWIW. That doesn’t look like something hit it, looks more like an input board failure. There are sellers on eBay who will sell you a board for $1-200 and give you basic trouble shooting help.

There are plenty of youtube videos on how to fix TVs DIY, I wouldn’t recommend this one:

Check the open box deals at BB. TVs are super cheap today. For what I bought my first plasma for I can own four maybe five 65” TVs today. That’s with 4K and Roku.
Left that Panasonic Plasma 1080p, just a monitor, no tuner since the cable/satellite box is a tuner, on the wall when I sold the house 11 years ago. Bought it right from the warehouse in 2001 for $2,500 back in when stores had them for $5,000 plus and 480p for $4,000 plus.
Have an Insignia plasma in my bedroom still today I bought when I bought my current home. LED in the living room.
Plasma TVs also work well as space heaters if needed.
