I say max would be 500.. I want to start keeping mainly sps, so thats the reason I wanted to upgrade.. I was thinking 1.5 - 2 times the water volume rated Skimmer . So tank water volume = 175g ..swc is looking good right now

Yea swc is a good choice as well, one thing though, dont get too caught up in 2-3 times water volume reason i say this is unless you have an high enough bioload the skimmer will idle 80 percent of the time and then come the my skimmer isnt working correctly threads. The most important thing when selecting a skimmer is efficency not if its rated at a higher volume then what u have. Meaning neck sizes ,body diameters and most importantly the pump . Its like a puzzle all the pieces need to fit correctly

The only reason I want to +1 or 2 the Skimmer is because I'm away for work a lot and in case something were to die the Skimmer could help..

Hope you find a good one. I'm happy with this BK. I was lucky I bought it used and it's a work horse. Best skimmer I ever owned I had a swc with two psk 2500's. Not all that impressed I get more skimmate with 20 less fish and feeding once a day opposed to 2 times a day.
