Hello, I bought 3 sapphire damsels 2 months ago under the promise they would help with my flatworm infestation. After 2 months of never seeing a single one of them go after a flatworm, I’d like some more space in my tank for livestock. Id like to trade for a Royal gramma or midas blenny, but if anyone else has something they’re trying to get rid of and is interested, feel free to reach out and I’ll let you know if I’d be down for the trade! Thanks!

Just so you know and others, damsels are not active predators of anything. Certain wrasses and spotted mandarins are the only fish I know that will actively hunt flatworms, spotted mandarins being my favorite for this purpose. The only time damsels will eat flatworms is when you blow them into the water column, which is where their natural food exists. C. springeri are great damsels though.

Yeah, I figured that out on my own. I actually added a 6 line wrasse today, but the tank is just getting a bit too full!

The fish store I got the damsels from said they’d eat flatworms, but didn’t mention they’d only eat flatworms suspended in the water column. I should have done my research and not just taken their word for it!

It's all good, it's how we learn sometimes. Springeri's are great damsels as the aren't too pugnacious and look great. I like them as singles in tanks, unless you have a larger tank. Keep an eye on the 6 line, they can be a little tricky as they get bigger and sometimes are too aggressive to other tankmates, but they are fun to watch them as they hunt down their prey.
