Washing Chaeto and keeping it clean

I have some Chaeto in a refugium partition of my sump ... but it looks a little dirty. Its probably algae related becuase I use a sock filter.

Can I ...
wash my chaeto?
Vigorously?
In tap water?

and... what can I do to keep it clean? current? can I add snails or crabs, or will they just eat the chaeto?

just use the salt water from your water change to rinse your cheato clean.

Its probably algae related becuase I use a sock filter. do you have an algae problem? if so, why blame the sock? i ask because i have an algae problem and use a sock.

Pods like cheato and pods are good for your tank and fish and coral. Save the pods!
