Just noticed these black spots on my clown this morning when I turned on the lights. Google says it's because he's trying to host anemone but wanted your thoughts?

I'm not sure why they get them, but I have a pair of SA occelaris clowns that have the spots as well. Come to think of it, they don't seem as dark as before they started hosting, but who knows.

Seems like it would be more of a pigmentation issue. If clownfish naturally host a stinging anemone how can they get stung marks? I just always figured it was pigmentation, maybe also due to being tank bred.

What I have read is that sometimes if they dont have the natural host anemone they will get stung

Mine have them as well, they play with the frogspawn and some zoas. Usually the black dots go away
