The products in our hobby like many others have become very disposable. It breaks, just buy a new one, cheaper than trying to fix it or deal with mostly terrible customer service. What are products that still have value and lasting power? I personally still buy and use tunze, I have pumps that’s are coming on 20 years still working. Sicce can have some reliable stuff. Thoughts?

Old Deltec was very nice. They use a lot of jeabo stuff for their products now. You can find their smaller skimmers on Ali express.
The thing about Jebao is their quality has increased/improved over the years, while other name brand pumps have stayed the same or declined. Also, most pumps out there are made in the same factory, they just switch/add features and other aesthetics. I’m okay with Jebao. I have an older 1351 with the aquabee ac pump and a newer 600i with the dc pump. Both are running strong.

my skimmer, calcium reactor and lighting fixture are all at least 20 years old. Euroreef, Knop and Giesmann. 6105's last about 5 years and then they become too much maintenance. I just replace them. Ebo heaters last a very long time. just replaced mine after 10 years out of an abundance of caution

Ok with bravo, but it shouldn’t cost deltec price for a paint job on the pump.

I check Ali express I did not see what looked like Deltec skimmers, do they use a different name or do you have a link (if they allow it) Thanks in advance

They will not be named deltech. You will just have to search and eventually you’ll stumble on the unit under x brand and model. They will have a different controller though, which not a big deal to me. I will also say, don’t think you’ll save a ton of money by getting one. After shipping and import fees, it will probably be close to cost.

As most of my equipment I use right now are almost a decade old, I would have to put my money behind those.

reef octopus
Vortech
Kessil

I do have complaints about the reef octopus CaRX as it’s an early gen, but it works, and my Kessil is more than a decade old so it’s struggling and doesn’t look as good as the newer LEDs that use multiple diodes, but it still works with the help of a T5 hybrid fixture

Out of all the equipment I'm using, the only ones that I'm completely confident in and don't give me any issues are Philips Coralcare Gen 2, Radion G4, Jebao, Panta Rhei, and ATI T5 fixtures. Yes Jebao is on the list.

Sadly I can no longer vouch for Deltec. Their old stuff was amazing. I have their fully automated calcium reactor CRTT-1500 and the pump has failed me multiple times. To be fair, the feed pump was a Jebao pump but uses the Deltec brain for power. This pump has since been discontinued. Deltec's solution is to upgrade to their new v1.3 brain and pump for a cool $400 additional to the $2000+ I already paid for the reactor. Aside from the feed pump the reactor still has some quirks to it.

Eheim, Ebo Jaeger, Reef Octopus seem to all last forever. I would agree with Tunze as well.

I still have a maxi jet 1200 from 2000 that has been running since 2000. Also a Tom's aqualifter pump that is still bullet proof. No wonder both of those companies went out.
