So I picked up a used, but new to me 48” aquatic life hybrid fixture for $190.

I bought the 16” rails and decorative end caps to convert it from18” wide to 16” wide.

I also modified the power cords: swapped the ballast around- had to modify the end cover and the end rail for wires to come out both on the same side.
I picked up 3 ai prime hanging kits from eBay for $20- and ordered the fourth for $20 also from eBay (the fourth has yet to arrive)

I got the 3 primes mounted and the fourth rigged up to work until I get last mounting bracket. All wires come out the back corner, with a clean wire cluster instead or a mess.
So far I like it, I’m running the bulbs I got with it. Ordered two ATI blue plus and Two ATO coral Plus.
so I’m in it about $325 for complete fixture with modifications and about another $100 in bulbs.

hoping to get more par. Once new bulbs come I’ll get the seneye out and test it.

What did you do recently to your tank?

HAPPY REEFING!

Sounds eventful! Today was miserably hot 🥵. I’ve been thinking of starting brine shrine too. Is it possiable to breed mysis?

Dam bro you were busy!!
I just skin my stand and added magnets to my front access door. Door looks uneven but they are not. Chipping makes it look like that. I routed them flush. And I still need to paint it.

3D printed Imhoff Sedimentation cover and support brackets. To start my phytoplankton, copepod and brine production.

Yes my daughter paints everything doors and floor.

Nice work!

Why do you but up your primes like that?

to be honest I’m not sure lol. I started with two primes. But I didn’t think it was enough so I got two more. I mounted them side by side to mimic the Hydra fixtures. I got a seneye to test par But I was getting only like 120 -135 par towards the middle of the tank. That’s why I added the t5, but as Far as. The placement of the primes- do you suggest spreading them apart a bit?

I have not tested new fixture set up with par meter yet. Was waiting for new bulbils to come in. But I’m also unsure of the mounting height as it is right now. I’m sure there will be some tweaking to be done still. Right now I’m 9” above water line.

If it were me I'd play with the positioning of the leds and par first. Once you get a nice even spread then I'd check par to see the difference with t5s.

I was just curious if it was based on rockwork or if you planed to keep sps in certain areas and low light corals in others.
