Hey so what is this? I saw my bubble coral all of a sudden died and turned into a dead brown Mass of flesh. So I took out the rock and this is what was on it so what is it?

Also my SWC 120 cone skimmer stopped sucking air after I plugged in after being unplugged for ich treatment. I blew through the air hose and water seems to be flowing, so what doi do?

Here is little critters from the dead coral,

Dumb pods there distructive if you don't have enough food for them to eat they come from your refugium you can dip your corals in revive or Lugols

ich treatment will kill corals, not sure it thats related. as far as your skimmer, look at the impeller for problems with the glue holding the magnit to the shaft. not spinning fast enough to suck air was my problem due to glue undoing itself. new impeller and it worked fine.

Coral could of died for a number of reasons, but the Copepod pictured is a type of Phytoplankton, good food for corals and fish. Copepds just need to be fed smaller phyto or they will occasionally nip at some LPS. Get a Mandarin to keep them in check or dose phyto from time to time...

Ya, I highly doubt that the copepods killed your bubble coral, it more likely would have eating them then the other way around. The way you explain it sounds like it got a case of brown jelly disease.

Oh wow that's some crazy growth, I use to have 2 mandarins till the purple lobster had quite the feast :(... Then I returned him to the Lfs. So now I'm gonna have to get some mandarins. Any other fish that will fur sure eat Copepods or what ever the critters are?

Thanks for help guys! Thanks

I really liked yellow corris wrasses at mt Lfs, will these hunt the big pods?
Yellow corris's will definitely hunt them, IME basically any wrasse that bury's itself in the sand and has a pointed nose will hunt them. Also like someone else said any mandarin dragonet will also hunt them, but don't get them both in a 40g.
