As noted in the title, I am looking for the the cheapest premixed salt water in Orange County. I travel between Yorba Linda and Mission Viejo (along the 91/55/5 freeways) often so I have a dozen stores to choose from. I intend to call around tomorrow, but I wanted some experience or input from other SoCaliReef members. I do not need anything fancy because I keep a fish-only tank. Just looking for some dirt cheap salt water, and where to get it. New job and college classes does not give me enough time to sit down and mix my own.

Thank you for reading!

Coral Island in Orange is pretty dirt cheap. I know they use brightwell there. Last time I went for every 5 gallons of salt you get 5 gallons of RO/DI. Fish Collection is fairly cheap but I don't remember the price off the top of my head. They make Coralife.

Thanks Shawn,

Reef Lounge USA(formerly Fish Collection) $0.79 for salt and $0.49 for RO/DI. Salt is Coralife at 1.023 salinity: pH 8.3, Mg 1250 and Cal 410. We use it in all our systems (approx. 5000 gallons total). Once we've completely moved, expect an availability of higher end salts such as Red Sea Pro on tap.

Thank you for the offer! I will PM you if I ever need a large quantity. The problem is, I only need a few gallons a week. I am starting up a 2.5 gallon dwarf seahorse set up coupled with copepod and phytoplankton culture, so currently I do not know my total salt water needs.

I was being a creep and looking at your past posts and would love to meet up with you at the Marine Depot sale if you are going!

You can get free nsw at the kerkohf marine laboratory in Newport Beach as well. 8 to 1159am during the week. Don't call just Google it, sign the sheet, and be on your way

Thank you! I have had them before but always had to give them away to another reefer because of time restraints with school. This time I am trying a new approach: copepods instead of brine shrimp. Easier to culture for me, and they require less cleaning up.
