It’s been almost 2 months since I changed the filter floss in my 225 tank. I have 2 cups and return flow is about 1K GPH. I peeked at it 3 weeks ago and it looked clean, yesterday morning it was white but with these things growing in it. They look like maggots but I think they are sponges IDK. Pods jumping around.

Normally after a a week the floss is very brown and stinky. 3 weeks and the cups are overflowing. This has been almost 2 months and it was white but I scrapped the glass before I took this picture. It actually still looks much whiter to the eye

What are these things? Should I eat them?

Nah, harmless filter feeders. They’re good to have around.
