Yes, that's right - not interested in any new fish, only used:loldude: I don't want to support wild-sourced livestock any more, so I'm looking for people who're looking to get rid of a few good used fish. I'm stocking my 135, and don't have much in there right now, so plenty of space. I'm in Beaumont, and I'm only willing to drive about 35-40 mins for pickup, so if you're further than that, please don't reply.

Right now I only have a flame angel, an orange firefish, and a bengai cardinal - and they look lost in my 6 footer. I'm looking for 2 more each of the orange firefish and bengai. I'm also looking for a tang that will stay smallish and is sociable and not too grumpy - I'm thinking of a kole or an Atlantic Blue, perhaps. Would also even consider a small powder blue (since there will be only a single tang in this tank). Also looking for a copperband butterfly that does not munch on corals. Will entertain anything else that is interesting and reef-safe: hawkfish, gobies, maybe even a small school of chromis. I DO NOT LIKE NEMO, so no clowns please ;). No crazy big fish that you're trying to unload either - I don't want eels, rays, lookdowns, humongous tangs, or other whale sharks.

LMK what'cha got, where you're located, and how much you want. Oh, and pictures might help me decide...

Thanks.

thats a good thing if u don't want to support wild-sourced livestock any more but like russ13 said u should get ora fish cuz just buy getting used fish doesnt mean they were werent caught in tha wild or if u buy a used fish from someone they might use that money ta get a new fish wich might be wild caught also i dont no much about ora but if ur tryna save tha reefs or fish whatever ur cause may be finding a very good ora fish store n buying from them

All salt water live products were originally sourced from the ocean - this much is obvious. I no longer want to directly support fish being taken from the wild. Looking for 'used' fish from ppl breaking down tanks, getting out of the hobby or fish that outgrew their smaller diggs is a good way to do this. I do plan on picking up one ORA fish if I can't find one 'used' locally - plan on getting one of their dragonettes. I have no control over what someone does with the money I transfer to them when I buy something of theirs, whether this is a coral frag or a fish -- this is not my concern.

I SUPPORT your idea....
+1. Good idea for coral too. If the oceans have any hope of recovery we must do all we can. Just read an article in LAT how an estimated 40% of plankton has died off in the last several decades.

Thanks guys - just trying to be a bit more responsible. Also, am in no hurry, so I can pick things up slowly - one or two at a time, from week to week. I'll likely keep bumping this thing quite often, to keep it near the top where it'll be seen. Also, if anyone KNOWS someone with used fish, please post it up here!

Oh - forgot to mention, looking for some used inverts as well.

I currently have one used fire shrimp - looking to pick up a few more of these, hopefully establish a breeding population. a few true peppermint shrimp would also be good.

i have some USED fish:

-Yellow tang
-Valentini Puffer
-Pair of Onyx Clowns
That puffer's a cutie for sure - I think I'd be just a bit nervous for my crustaceans, though, with a puffer in the tank. I'm gonna hold off on adding a tang, methinks, until I can find a kole, or something similar.

Also have a nearly full 1 gal (used maybe a cup tops) bucket of Bulk Reef Supply's Rox carbon I could trade - was around 40 bucks. A bit too fine for me, but its the best activated carbon available.

Still nothing that is urging me to jump into my car to go for a drive yet! A couple of interesting offers, though -- just a bit too far away.

Here's a more complete list of what I'd take:

-- Fish --
Mandarin (spotted or phychedelic)
Rainfordi goby
sixline wrasse
2 or 3 orange firefish
2 bengai cardinals
copperband butterfly
?? shoal of chromis ?? (but NO damsels)
Kole tang (or)
Atlantic blue tang (or)
powder blue tang (or)
powder brown tang (this is gonna be a one tang tank)
any reef safe wrasses (preference for fairy wrasse)
?? perhaps a blenny ??

-- Inverts --
fire cleaner shrimp
TRUE peppermint shrimp
sand sifting stars
?? small urchin ??

Please, if you have something not on the list (as long is it's NOT a damsel or a clown) post it up, as well as your location. As long as it's definitely REEF safe, I will definitely consider it! I'll expand my driving range a bit as well -- will drive up to an hour or so for pickup -- unless the trip is worth it (e.g. - you have more than one fish on my list). Thanks everyone!

Looks like I'll be in/around Huntington Beach this coming weekend (not sure which day yet) for a used fish run. Anyone else in the HB area have any USED fish laying around that they want to part with?

Ok, so it looks like I've found the two orange firefish, the sixline, the two bengais, and a yellow shrimp goby/pistol pair. Still looking for everything else still on the list. I will be driving around everywhere this coming Sunday, so if you're anywhere from northern OC to LA (or anywhere near those two places) and you have something on my list, LMK. Thanks!
