I always thought this green acro was strawberry fields but expected the tip to have a brighter red center, maybe it just needs more time to grow and color up. The lower left is a palawenesi (sp?.), I believe it is called Bloody Mary. And to the right is my red planet. This is inches from the top of the tank so lighting is pretty intense here

Thought I could see if I could stir up some jedi mind trick envy. Had this for a long time and its been sitting on the sand for maybe a year or two. Color is not great on the sand. I have one little frag from a while ago in my frag tank all colored up and I enjoy checking in on the frag. Don't think I have ever seen a bigger colony than this (yes, I'm bragging, mine is definitely bigger than yours)

Here is the little frag, I made the rookie photographer mistake of picking it up and placing just before taking the picture. Polyps retracted as a result. The lighting is t5s so Im not that great without halides in the mix.

This is not an sps, but what the heck. This is a UFO micromussa , atleast that is how I bought it a year plus ago. Not really sure because I'm not much of an lps or micromussa expert and apparently these guys like to morph depending on tank conditions as well

wow 9" thats a huge piece
I have had many people make that exact comment

I keep taking picture after picture of rr pink Floyd. It is so mesmerizing with the yellow body and the red polyps. Mine is encrusting like crazy and sending out mini branches. A good friend has a colony which is much paler yellow and less encrusting and a little bit better branching. Interesting to see the same coral adapting and growing a little different depending on tank parameters and flow. Hope I'm not boring anyone with repeat pictures of this gem

Thank you, I really appreciate the positive feedback

This is a darth maul porites, the whole colony is like an inch to inch and a half in size

Porites is a strange species and I have no idea what characteristics are characteristic. I have only seen three that I could recognize, the darth maul, the plain jane yellow one ( that is not really its name) and a very expensive multicolored one and I'm not sure if that is or is not a porite.

I have googled porites but sometimes the information on google is so much that it's like no information really at all. Also have looked at Corals of the World which is a great source but I think I would do better with Corals for Dummies

So the next pic is not an sps, rather a close up of a common but nonetheless brightly colored blastomussa. I think the really cool thing is that it is growing and thriving literally adjacent to a chalice( RHS Del Sol--now,that's an oldie as well as rarity) and a lithophyllon ( try saying that three times really fast with your mouth full)

Psammacoras are really cool. This is Tat's psammacora and I believe jason fox now has the same or similar with his moniker on it. It is not to be confused with a hynophora or any of the other crummy bright green coral. This is an sps and it is unusual in both its growth and polyp extension. Super bright green on top of that. And top down shots as I always say is cheating but just a little bit because the colors are brighter from this view.

After seeing picture after picture by a fellow reefer of his colony, I really flipped over the pc superman acro. Now I take picture after picture as this acro grows out. One of my favorite acro gems, pc superman acro

Have to admit, a lot of pretty eye candy out there. Whether this is a sps or lps, I really don't know. You don't commonly see feeders out on this

Oh wow! I just found this and looked at the last page, but I have a nice long read ahead of me I'm sure. I'm looking forward to getting back to this post!

My carrolinia varies from very green to a shade of yellow. Right now it is very green. It is so different looking that I like it a lot. I did some plastic surgery on this a while back. The major portion of the colony was growing in an upward direction and not very visible so I cut it near its base and reglued it in a much more flattering position. Oh, did I say I like chalices as well, take a look below the carrolinia . If you go back a couple posts, you can then see the Millie growing above this colony

I like this picture but it bothers me as well. Took it with blue leds only and then upped temperature to 50 k and increased brightness. Great picture, even more subdued in the photo than what it really looks like under blue leds. But except for a few minutes a day, I never really look at the tank with only LEDS on. So while the picture is close to what you see in the tank, all blue leds feels like looking at posters with a black light when I lived in the UCLA dorms about a thousand years ago. Its interesting but bizarre.
