Well I'm thinking Condy wasn't getting enough light in the beginning. I wasn't using t5. When I got the t5 bulbs and newer fixture, that's when I saw improvements... Or lack of zooxanthellae algae from before...

Often times the ill effects of changes to your system don't happen immediately. Why its always best to take things slow. Whenever you change lighting, the bulbs or the type of lighting, its usually best to lower the intensity (by raising the fixture or reducing the percentage of say leds) or the duration for a while and slowly increase it.

Just do another water change for the nitrate. How much nitrate? It would have to be really high to hurt anything.

Most likely if your tests showed ammonia, and now they don't, your tank most likely cycled.

Purple up just adds calcium as far as I know. I wouldn't waste your money on it. Coraline will come in time with water changes and keeping your parameters stable. Once you get it you will wish you never had it hehe I hate scraping it off my glass.
So u think its OK and cycled for dt?! No3 around 10ppm I'd say

You are good to go. If you are worried about it, dose some more bacteria to the display tank. It won't hurt anything.

When you remove the rock. Give it a good shake in that holding tank to remove any detritus that has settled on or in it.

I gotcha. I did slowly move fixtures onto tank. Had 1 48" led reef light I was using before. Got 2 36" t5 fixtures.
I Started switching them out by, led reef light moved to back with 1 new fixture with low intensity t5s for a weeks or so then when I received my new bulbs, I took led off and added the second t5 fixture. Put 3 new ati t5 bulbs and here I am. I slowly slid the fixtures onto tank above everything. I actually have lil boxes holding up my light that I have put directly over top nem and new chalice so boxes are preventing direct strong light to them, I'd think...

Here is the bleaching nem ;( I'm hoping to see more progress in his zooanth algae now that it's apparent and I got the ATI bulbs.

Yup. Little by little. Remember from an earlier post. "Nothing good happens fast" to that I will also add "Slow and steady wins the race"

Re-read everyone's posts on this thread. There is a lot of information.

I think you are well in your way to being very successful. Pix look good. Keep update pictures coming. It's also a lot of fun to be able to look back and see your progress. Makes it all worth while.
Just thought I'd thank you again for everything you have explained. I have been re-reading my posts and WOW I can't believe I was such a retard then haha. I guess you gotta start somewhere.
Ironically, I happen to now work at that lfs I'd sworn to stay out of. Been there a couple months and already making an impact. Why not even expand my knowledge on their wallet haha. its been a wonderful and rewarding experience, helping people with their tanks. Hearing their success/ probs and researching even more.

I thank everyone on here. Your helping many others as well. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Just look how far you've come!! Good to hear success stories. Keep up the good work, keep asking questions. Read all you can, and pass the knowledge on to the people who ask. Tank is really looking good. Now if you would just try a real ALIVE Acro, maybe the bf would rethink the skeletons...;-)
