The reason why fuges are taken down is because the MB7 (bacteria) will compete with your chaeto for nutrients and bacteria will eventually make your chaeto starve. With that happening it will release unwanted chemicals in your tank due to it dying.

I have actually been planning on trying this method but I never new that you had to take apart your fuge? I was reading up on melevs reef and he NEVER took apart his fuge, and doses straight vodka everyday.

I still run my fuge. With the amount of food I drop into my tank every day, I don't think I will ever reach a TRUE ULNS... So, if algae is going to grow anywhere, I'd rather it be in the fuge :D

what's everyone's maintenance dose? I was doing 2mLs daily on a 40br, but I've cut it back to 1ml--some corals are lightening up a bit more than I'd like. I'll be working back up again, but incrementally.

I just had a bad experience with MB7. After 5 days following the start up instructions I had a red cap bleach and another acro colony start to RTN. Also lost one frag completely. I'm wondering if I could already have ULN since I wasn't able to read any detectable Nitrate or Phos beforehand.

So from I read, its not a good idea to run GFO while doing this, anyone doing this while running GFO, I just bought a $100 reactor, and I am not about to stop using it.
