    Live rock from quarantine tank

I wouldn't do it either. The copper is in the LR and will leach out, even if cooked or soaked in bleach and throughly dried out. BTW... not a good idea to have LR in a QT tank anyway, use pieces of PVC pipe instead.

I hitchicker crab ate my shrimp and I don't have any triggers. Just mentioning it because it could be another possibility.

    Anyone use Tunze salt?

In 2008, some people reported 9 / 420 / 1260 Mg It's made to Tunze's spec by HW Marine in Germany. Same mfg plant that makes Reefer's Best and HW Marine's own label. Also found this: http://stonyreef.com/blog/2009/tunze-reef-excel-lab-marine-salt/

    Anyone use Tunze salt?

I'm thinking about switching from Tropic Marin regular to Tunze. Anyone use Tunze? It's reported to be a little higher in Alkalinity and Calcium. BRS has an ok price for it, when considering a volume purchase and free shpg.

    250W or 400W

If you already have the pendant and ballast, try raising it to get a better spread for 30 x 30. 250w should be fine for an 18" deep tank. I personally would get a better designed pendant, like lumenmax elite or luminarc full size.

Natural Sea Water.. all Input appreciated

The UCSB was deep sand bed filtered to 2 microns I believe. The tap is closed down due to construction on campus. I believe Scripps is still open. I've used UCSB NSW before and had some algae issues, but the soft corals and fish responded very nicely to it. It does have more nutrient than ASW...

    Water barrels

Agree with detane, I probably wouldn't use them. For cleaning I would try some diluted muriatic acid and water.
