8 day old Snowflake Clownfish [emoji39]

Also, the lone survivor is a hermaphodite now, so perhaps the name Jaime Lee? While the movie Finding Nemo was great, it was wrong about what really happens in the wild. I know, yall knew this already...

    Water change techniques?

a lot of old school reefers strictly did water changes in the sump; in fact any additions only to the sump for maximum slow mixing and stability.

Check valve or no check valve? Why?

I use check valves but they need regular cleaning/replacing too. use clear ones for daily inspection. complete pump outlet obstruction is the reason I use 2-4 smaller return pumps. also, I have a 2" drain to sewer at the top of my sump that can empty the whole tank if needed.

    Triton testing postage

The web site says to test your water for trace elements, so you will "be able to precisely replicate natural the water chemistry conditions from reefs around the world", i thought the ~5 or so articles on testing all reef salts showed every brand of salt varied a lot from NSW in their trace...

I think im screwed. House has termites!!! What do to with my 2 reef tanks?!?

If you wrap up the tank, is there a possibilty the termites would hide out in your stand/canopy? Seek refuge in your refugium? If it happened to me & there was not way out, with the future resale value of the house in jeopardy, i would use it as an upgrade opportunity.

    Triton testing postage

Just wondering, since they are located near me, are people sending off water samples only when they have problems, or "just to know" even when things look good?

    PH reading very high ????

good judgement in the care of reef animals is harder to develop than the technical knowledge of reefkeeping. i wouldnt have assumed that the high pH reading was wrong, if the pH probe passed initial standardized pH calibration. pH, temp, salinity critical parameters that can crash a tank...

Metal halide Vs Radion Vs Ati

since your issue is temperature control, try a couple radion LEDs. IMO for the long term reefer LEDs are the best as no bulb changes, less chiller maintenance (can even turn off your chiller and the nagging "did my chiller kill my tank today" thought in the back of you mind goes away), no...

    TrueLumen, anyone use one before?

I used the 36" 8kKelvin x3 for my fuge and it worked great. Superbright, looked like fluorescent flooding because the diodes were so close together. To get the most light i just rested them on the upper tank rim facing in, as they are also water proof (except for their daisy chain connector)...
