Hello all,
Recently at RAP I purchased 3 juvenile clownfish one is a black snowflake, davinci and snowflake. the snowflake is biggest of them all somewhere around 3/4 inches the other two are about half inch or so. i was looking through the forms and ppl are saying that is a bad idea but most of them had 2 already and they tried adding the 3rd one and had problems. I have added all three at the same time.
Any advice would be good
thanks

The smallest will most likely be killed as they grow and establish dominance. I consolidated two 30 gallon tanks into a 90 with two established pairs and 5 nems, it lasted about 4 weeks until the smallest was driven into the corner and eventually killed. It was tragically sad, once they turned all 3 would gang up on him and he died in 2-3 days before I could figure out what to do. Then after a few weeks the two biggest turned on the 3rd one. I tried again with a 240 and 3 occ, same thing happened in a few weeks. I have one in my fuge (one fish in a 90...lucky dude).

Those are awesome looking fish, but one will die, maybe two from fighting. They are small so you might get a few extra weeks as they mature.
You could consider setting a small tank, like a 20 or something and put one in there. Maybe even plumb the two tanks together ?

That should be OK. Adding the third one after the other 2 have become a pair, small tank specially, is totally different that adding a bunch of them at the same time.

You will see 2 pair up eventually.....the third one is just like a back up singer but won't/shouldn't be killed as they are babies now :)

Eventually one will die, if its not attacked immediately don't get your hopes up eventually 2 of them will hook up and turn on the third and kill em.

I have a simple fix for you.

I'll buy the black snowflake off you.

I have a black misbar with no partner.

Long term, all of them not going to survive. Never listen to the LFS guy. Easy solution, give one to someone you know, like your uncle :a26:
