50 Gallon SPS Tank

Need to raise my post count, so enjoy my tank blog :thumb:


Tank: 36"x18"x18" Visio glass aquarium w/ low iron front pane. Sump will be made out of acrylic and roughly 30"x15"x12"

Water Treatment: 100 Micron Sock, KZ Revolution S Venturi skimmer

Lighting: ELOS Planet II with 2 x 150w Radium 20k and 3 x 39w Geismann Actinic + and 39w KZ purple

Flow: 1 Vortech MP10s, 1 Jebao WP-25, Waveline DC 6000 Return.

Other Equipment: 1/2hp chiller, Zeovit

FINALLY done relocating the tank. All that's left is gluing the coral.

Added a bonded pair of MI Flame Angels I paired myself. They are doing amazingly well!

Here they are doing some craaaaazy mating dances.

It was my third attempt with this species. I QT them in a 30-40 tank usually with a dozen or so 'dither' fish (chromis, damsels, or cardinals). But even when they seem happy for a week, I start acclimating them together in a bowl and they start murdering each other outright. The secret is getting extreme size differences I found.

I work in the trade and successfully have paired Potters, Multicolor, Mutlibars, and Fischers. Flames were surprisingly the toughest.

And yes. They nip everything without mercy. Doesn't seem to effect growth or color. PE is non-existent during the day (used to be very prominent) but still good at night when everyone's asleep.

I do plan to add some butterflies and more angels to this tank over time. I have a Griffis in QT but I do not know if i'll add it to this tank or just sell it. Burgess Butterfly is next on my list for sure.

Its a blue secale I believe. Morphed the color myself with zeovit additives, started somewhat GARF bonsai purple/green. It needs to settle for awhile before I start offering frags.

The aquarium stand is an LS Oak by Advanced Aquatanks and the dosing cabinet came from Ikea. By some miracle the colors matched perfectly
