the base is machined aluminum
Wouldn't that be a problem in the water permanently? Seems like it is in your pics. I believe the Kessil mount brackets are aluminum as well and I was hesitant to use it for my application. My nano next to my display is touching the wall and close to my tank so I can't put it on the back... would have to put it on the overflow portion or the right side wall for it to work. Otherwise hang it from the ceiling.

I dont see why it would? Its not bad for the tank and doesn't leech anything into it. Unless you have had a different experience?

You could always drain a bit of water from your tank and then push it giving you like a half inch clearance?

Each unit will come with two interchangeable lenses. 80 and 110 degrees. It will do a 30 inch by 30 inch area easily. Twice as strong as those other lights that are popular. There are two versions. The master unit ( the one on the left) will retail for $349 and the slave unit ( on the right) will retail for $249. The mounting arms come in two sizes, 18 and 24 inches. Pricing is not yet set on them bit I believe somewhere around $50 or so.

I guess I'm not a chemist just in general wouldn't want any metal in the aquarium. Does aluminum not rust?

Nah cant drain the tank.
