Ya man.....freaking ich all over the poor bastard.

It started when I added the other fish from my old setup. Man he's still real fat and eats okay but I have never had a fish look like this.

Feel bad, not about the money, but that despite alot of good info on this fish, I ignored it.

Read like 4 hours of info on this fish all to buy one and say "might be lucky."

Well I'm calling him the swimming dead but he's still swimming and eating well but won't be surprised if I have to pull out the net.

Now I probably f'd this system up. Lawrence what don't I do?? Lmao your murderous man.

i would honestly say about 90% of livestock we buy has ich. even if fish don't show signs of ich (white spots) they probably still have it. ich doesn't automatically mean a death sentence, but it does require special attention. I would start by feeding fish garlic guard soaked food, second, i would be on top of water params, and thirdly i would try to avoid anything that could possibily stress out the fish.

good luck,

That is not fact, merely speculation. But I do agree with you on your advice.

Many fish are different though and all it would take is one new addition that messes with the balance and the ich will come back when they get stressed.

I agree with gveng here! I had really bad ich on my blue hippo and I fed the crud out of him. I soaked the food in vitamins, etc. and left him alone. But now he is looking perfect! I think we get more stressed watching these guys with ich than they do. Good luck!

this is in fact true... all fish that go through a wholesaler/collector gets exposed to all sorts of diseases and parasites... the collectors never clean their holding tanks out after a catch... i believe they catch every day... why clean it..? also, the wholesalers...

ick actually lives in the substrate and rocks after they hatch and before they infest a fish... i'm sure the wholesalers don't wash out their holding tanks either... but just because a fish never has an outbreak, doesn't mean it's not infected... it can have some ick, but they just aren't feeding on the fish at the time... i haven't had a fish with ick in my tank in over two years... but i'm sure if i stress them out, they will magically get ick somehow... it could be in everyone's tank and now one knows it...

it's like herpes...

I've gone through this with mine. Hope he pulls through feed heavy and don't stress him out any more.

Ya just feeding him food soaked in the meza something or other and some other powder along with the garlic liquid.

For some reason he loves romaine lettuce. At the whole seller he was eating it up so I have had a steady flow of that and nori different types. I am sure he would love the marine lettuce but I don't know who has some locally.

I will leave it be. I just feed.

I am concerned buy mostly cause I'm just starting this tank, and ich off the bat is so typical isn't it?

I was gonna do a wc this weekend but that might stress them out more.

Why I had to see this big ole fish! I should of got the nice Angel and called it a day. Blue face is solid he eats plays and is punking fish. Why couldn't all be like the other new additions. Hide two days then eat with the crew. Lame!!

The Achilles is literally 3 times the size of my other fish I don't get it. He should be chomping through this tank. Guess it has to do with they are wild and meant to be in their natural state.

I will keep you all posted
