So I adopted a couple "special needs" fish today (one has a bad eye, the other a slight swim bladder issue - swims at a 45 degree angle). Anyway... put them in the tank (yes, I too am a dirty sailor) they go straight to my lizard blenny's caverns (yes, the same fish that ate 7 or 8 of my glass cardinals). They're like "Hey bro, can I crash here tonight?" he tries to eat them. They move up in the water column and go to some caves where my tangs chill. They're like "Hey bro... I'll cut you!".

Repeat cycle "X" times...

Right now one is safe sleeping in some digitata, the other can't find room at the inn.

I'm not too worried about the tangs, but I'm seriously considering getting out a small trout fishing hook and some krill and putting a hurt on the lizard blenny.

Let it ride until morning or go fishing? BTW - anyone ever actually go fishing in their tank before?? Thoughts?

I would go fishing if the new additions are on the weak side. I never tied using a fishing line. I normally just caught them when the lights turn off.

So I didn't go fishing last night. Just turned all the downstairs lights out and hoped for the best. As of now (lights on) I have lots of curious fish, but there doesn't seem to be any aggression. Hook is to the side on standby though.

Hey I remembered an old thread so I just copied the text from a post. It was for a damsel.

" I got a #20 with three sides like this. I cut off two of the hooks and bent the tip out just a little bit. So its not so much of a "J". "

Why did you put f'd up fish in a display?????? Didn't you learn from my Lamarck angel 700$ incident? A 20$ fish cost me half of my collection along with some fish I've had for 3 years.

They don't have leprosy. They're just handi-capable :) They had been in the shop for a month, eat fine, no visible signs of disease. Probably just got brought up too quick...

Maybe I made a big mistake... maybe I just saved two fish that no one else would have bought. Time will tell?!?! I never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed. :D

Kudos on trying to save a couple fish that no one wants. i've read lots of threads about people fishing out their fish with barbless hooks but it has only been larger fish. I'm thinking a smaller fish would not recover as quickly from a wound as a larger one.

Yup, me and Nick... biggest liberals in the state!! :p
Your "handi able" fish! Call em Gimps and keep it ReEAL! I think your Borb will be fine. Might not last years and years but it should be okay. Mine died from a sick fish not from the swim bladder and it swam like yours.
