So I started my aquarium around 5 months ago and i have been slowly adding coral and fish into it. I have one copperband butterfly, one flame angel, a kole tang, a clownfish, a six line wrasse, and a bengai cardinal. I introduced the copper band, the angel and the tang around the same time so I don't know which one was the carrier but now I am positive I have velvet in my tank. The first thing I noticed was when I was doing a waterchange last night and the tang was looking very sickly. I examined him closer and realized he was coated with what looked like white powder. Immediately I knew it was velvet so I tried to set up a quarantine tank asap. The next morning the tang was already dead, and the rest of the fish were coated in white spots. My bengai is the only one that seems healthy. My question is what should I do from here? I know now to set up a quarantine tank before hand and to quarantine fish before introducing to my DT, but for how long should I keep the new fish there? Also, I have heard from Aaron from SPS corals to make the tank fowel for at least three months until reintroducing fish. Would the parasites affect the coral? Also would the parasites be able to feed off the coral and survive? Please help any help would be appreciated
