I just bought another tank :banghead: lol. 24" cube with mp10 and an ai sol lighting system.

My problem is that I can't get the controller to even turn on to change the programming that the previous owner had set up.

I have the power cord plugged in and the controller plugged into the data port. That is all that the system came with however after some research and initial frustration I was told that the USB port on the controller also needed to be plugged into the wall. I have an old black berry charger that fits in the USB port so I plugged it into the controller and wall and tried it to no avail. The LED back strip on the controller lights up blue for a second and then turns off. No writing ever shows up.
This is the controller with the single Knob. Any suggestions? Please help lol

You need to upload the newest firmware for the controller. Go to the ai website I think they still support that controller

Noooooooo!!! The controller gets the power from the AI Sol. The USB plug on the controller is ONLY for updating the firmware on it. If you plugged it to the blackberry charger you might have ruined it. I hope I am wrong but I don't think so.....

I'm going to give ai a call tomorrow. Hopefully it's not ruined but if so I was looking at buying the wireless adapter and new controller anyway. The light was not set up on the tank when I bought it. The guy had just gotten it used from someone not to long ago and never set it up. Of coarse it did not come with directions either. One of the workers at a LFS said it had to be plugged into both so I took his word for it.

I got the tank stand custom sump mp10 and lights for a steal so if I have to fork out a little more cash tough luck but I'll live. Thanks for the input and I'll update tomorrow.

I will shortly. The canopy was unfinished so I'm painting it today. Gonna do some aquascaping after I finish up an essay as well.

Some things I learned today...
1: I did not fry the controller
2: needed a firmware update which I did
3: controller has built in power source that takes up to an hour to charge hence the reason the controller would not stay on even when connected to light. I'm charging it now hopefully all my sol problems will be solved!

After all that the chord from the controller to the sol was just no good. Probably the cheapest fix so I lucked out. Loving these leds!
