Looking over the vendor list for FRAG, I couldn't help but notice that the sponsers not going to FRAG are having all these black Friday sales the same week as FRAG. Lol well I guess I don't have to drive all the way out to Simi Valley now...

sorry boys, I spent ALOT of Jimmy's money to stock for Black Friday Pre-sale and Black Friday itself... I wish I could support the FRAG show more and make an appearance but didn't get an invite and there wasn't ample time to prep when we finally found out..... :-/...

You don't need a personal invite you just need to look around. They had the flyer up and said booths were available. In fact I heard a booth got picked up just last week. Sounds like it was F.R.A.G.s you didn't get in there. This is a good way to start a bad name.

I don't see how not attending the event will give them a bad name. Either way I think people who have gone to there store can see that reef lounge is one of the best LFS

I'm just saying it's better to support little club swaps oppose to countering their number of ppl showing by swiping in and offering early "Black Friday" discounts.

I can personally attest to this. Reef Lounge is top notch.

I think folks need to take it easy...there's been some serious sensitivity surrouding FRAG and what vendors are selling/not showing up. Just my impression that a little "live and let live" is necessary. Nobody is mentioning choosing NOT to go to FRAG because stores are having sales. That'd be silly anyways considering they're different offerings.

Lets not forget that there are some sponsors, and I include Reef Lounge specifically, that support this hobby as much as reef clubs do. I'm sure MASVC is going to put on a great show and I don't think an LFS sale occurring 100+ miles south of the event is going to hurt the show one bit.

Read his last sentence. I don't mean to disrespect reef lounge but I will stick up for my local club when needed. I feel it's needed in this case.

Ok so there's no such thing as black friday any more as its not just 1 day but now a few weeks long. Guess what, the event so happens to be on the weekend before Xgiving. So I wouldn't assume LFS are having sales in retaliation of F.R.A.G. but the sales would've happened either way. And yes LFS' should support their local clubs but business is business and if they can't be a vendor then they can't and if they have to have a sale to pay the bills so be it.

I can agree with that

I knew it. When I first read this thread, the first post sounded to me like some underhanded crying about the vendors.

I'll be attending, I'm sure it will be a nice show and It will be fun.

But let's face it, this show is smalltime it might not be worth it for vendors to drive up there. they might not want to say it themselves to not look bad but that's what it is.

Lets not fool ourselves, this is not RAP nor MAX. There will not be big bucks for vendors to make.

Precisely. And RL has sales weekly so unless an event were held in a place without time they're going to have a sale going on.

If defense is needed I'd say it should be pointed at the person who's not going to FRAG rather than the store. Frankly it's their loss because what will be offered at FRAG is different than what will be offered at Reef Lounge. Yes, some overlap, but you can't win some sweet Ecotech gear for a dollar at Reef Lounge.

I know the event is young and you want to protect the investment of money and more importantly time that MASVC has put in. I resepect that. I can't go this year (and it would be worthless for me considering my tank woes) but I look forward to checking it out in the future. I've met a few of MASVC members and they've all been very cool people. Best of luck with the show.

I don't see how it's a direct swipe at the show, specially from reef lounge. They are always having really good sales. I think shows are more of way to meet reefers and learn about the hobby, rather than purchasing corals. I went to RAP didn't buy one piece of coral and had a blast and picked up a lot of valuable information.
