Why what kind have you had before? In my experience they are easier to take care of. Only reason I might sell my current piece right now is because the flow in my tank is too strong.

I have that problem at times. They definitely prefer lower flow, but tolerate different lighting. My tank runs a lil high with nitrates and phosphates, so I've found I have the best luck getting mine from an established tank that used to a lil extrs funk in the water. Some stores run their tanks too clean, so when you get it home it withers away.

I usually only test for calcium, mag, alk, ph, and ammonia. I do have a test in my API kit and a little over a week ago they were low but haven't tested lately. I have API for most tests except ca and mag which are salifert. Eventually will get away from the API, I don't like them.

Probably one of the easiest coral to keep. I recently sold my 5 year old wall hammer. Phosphates and magnesium affect this species of coral the most. If you have dying parts your water quality is bad. If the coral was already dying at the store it's hard to make it stop receding. Epoxy on the dead spot sometimes works.

The gold, orange or white variety seem to be the toughest. Neons, green, and purp are quite hearty.

My only recommendation would be to get a quality refractometer with calibration fluid and quality phosphate test like salifert A quality nitrate test would also be wise if you're growing coral. Same on magnesium. How often do you do a wc? What type of salt do you mix? Do you use rodi to top off or store bought Ro?

Ur parameters must be way out of wack. Get someone else to test ur water. Ur test kits must be old or way off.

Euphilias are one of the easiest Lps to keep alive. Ive noticed hammers can be finicky.

PS - my euphilias do better in higher Flow. Not getting blasted by the stream, but when there's lower flow, they don't open up as much.

They open up more when food source is not readily available and they are healthy. In a filthy tank they will not extend as much even with perfect water flow.

A few years ago I lost 3 euphylias in a really short period of time. I was told LPS is more sensitive to swings in ALK than most people think. I keep a better eye on my ALK now and have kept several for a long time with no problem. If my water gets "dirty" I notice they don't extend as much but they don't die.

The only problem i had was with torches... But my hammers and frogspawns are doing great... Especially when i started to keep water parameters up.
