One of my Angel fish came in with an open red sore. My buddy who has been in the hobby for 15 years made the observation at his shop, that is literally 2 blocks from my house.

Anywho, he recommended API's Furan-2, because it has nitrofurazone. Anyone have any experience with a fish with a red sore. According to my buddy he says it's a parasite that is inside that manifests itself outside in time.

All info is highly appreciated. I'm trying hard to not be a nasty reef keeper and I'm glad I changed my ways for good.

Melafix and Pimafix.

Melafix is an anti-bacterial and Pimafix is an anti-fungal. Both will help with wound-healing. And, both are gentle and reef-safe (though some certain corals might not like them).

Good luck! I love Lamarck's!

if the fish is in QT, I would use something stronger than Pimafix and Melafix..I would go with Maracyn Plus.

I had a bad bacterial infection outbreak when I started up my first FOWLR 2 years ago, and dosed it in my display. It killed off a lot of bacteria in my liverock, but I saw almost immediate improvement.

I don't know what store carries/stocks it in your area, but I know for a fact that Jim's Exotic Fish in El Segundo/Manhattan Beach has it. They're closed Wednesday's though..

When people have more experience in the hobby they notice things people even with a few years don't. I would have never seen the mark until in QT. Len saw it in the bucket and diagnosed on the spot and raised his eyebrow.

That is vibriosis. i beleive kanaplex from seachem is a better treatment for this particular infection.
