Hello reefers,

I bought a aquacontroller plus a DC 8 like 3 or 4 months ago from Tom and it is working great for me. I recently bought a Air King clip on fan to cool my tank down and getting prepare for summer. I hook up the fan to my aquacontroller and programed it to automatically turn on when temperature is above 80. The fan turns on above 80 but it never shuts down. I tried everything that I know of and nothing works for me. Also, I have Koralia 1 and 2 hooked up the controller. When I do my water change I manually turned them off. Only the Koralia 2 turns off and the koralia 1 keeps running. So, I would go back to the DC 8 to unplug and plug it. After the water change, I would turn it on through my controller and it both Koralia will turn on. I don't know why I can't manually turn of the Koralia 1 through my controller. It sux cuz I don't have alot of room behind my stand to unplug the powerhead. Is anyone experiencing the same thing as me and also what did you do to resolve this matter. Thanks for reading my thread and hopefully someone can post a solution. Thanks in advance. :conf44:

you need to program both your koralias

koralia 1 should be plug a and should have own (variable k4 = plug 2) (variable k4 = plug 3)

Then you need to add to the program.

As for your fan. YOu need to program it to turn off. If its above 80 the whole day of course its gonna stay on until you program it to turn off. Fan will stay on no matter wat even if temp was 78. Its cause you didnt tell it to turn off

So if it gets above 80 turn on fan.

so program would look like this

if temp >= 80 turn on Fan
If temp <= 78 turn off fan

Simple logic

the dc8 has a problem with low draw loads on the solid state outlets, 1-3 & 5-7, use relay outlets 4 or 8

for more info, check page 4 of the DC8 manual

Thanks

Thanks to everyone's suggestion I have solved the fan issue. I still have the powerhead problem of not shutting off. I appreciate everyone's input. :top:

As 5.56 said, devices which draw a very small amount of power need to be plugged into DC8 outlets #4 or #8. A K1 only draws 3.5 watts max, so definitely fits in this category.

I'm quite happy w/ my AC3, but will upgrade to the new Neptune APEX controller soon (mainly 'cause I'm a technogeek ;) )

I travel extensively on business for up to 2 weeks at a time, so having the remote monitoring and control features is an absolutely necessity. The AC3 has been extremely reliable and I trust it do do what I need it to do.

The AquaNotes software though is a genuine PITA, so I wrote my own data logging and graphing web pages.... www.reeftronics.net

I spoke with curt at MAX about apex and it is an impresive system to be sure, however, if I were going on long trips, I might stay with the tried and true ACXXX series for a year or so.. coolest part about apex.... everything wires into the DC8ish thing, so you don't have a bunch of wires going to the display head

as far as the ACXXX language, I prefer CLI commands.. onec you are familure with the language and syntax, it is a snap...if not just post your slate and what you want to do and some nerd (like me) will write it for you

Sage advice... when I get the APEX, I'll be selling my AC3 to a friend who currently has an ACjr. But, I will wait a while before passing it on (he's in no rush to get it), giving myself ample time to gain confidence in the APEX. Being a brand new product line, I fully expect that there will be a couple of bugs in it.

I might be getting one of these. Are you happy with urs?
Yes I am very happy with my aquacontroller. I would consider myself still a novice in this hobby but it has simplified my life by 100 times. I use to do very thing manually. Now, this device runs my tank and never misses a beat. I would definitely suggested this product to my closest friend. It is two thumbs up for me. :top::top:

Thanks SPS2mytank. My fan now works perfectly. I appreciate you helping out another reefer.
