Really want to get one for pest control and cuz how it looks. I know wrasses in general are jumpers but I'm sure some types are more so than others. Reason being is my tank is rimless and really would like to try and keep it that way. If they're very prone to jumping then I'm going to do me and the fish a favor and not pick one up just to have it carpet surf on me.

Thanks!

Its a wrasse so maybe... but ime fairys and flashers do most of the jumping. BUT my old canary would do it from time to time and scrape his head on my net but he was a little on the skiddish side.

I lost my 3 year old leopard a month or so ago, but recently a friend gave me his juvi meleagris and its doing great I'm really happy about that. My potters is over 2 years in my tank now. He's gotten a lot bigger since the male meleagris passed away.

yup and prior to him having that fish, i had it for approx 2 years and it never jumped (atleast i never saw it jump) and both tanks it was in (90g and 120g) were both open top as well.

another thing to note about mela wrasses is sometimes they get aggressive with smaller fish. mine would intimidate my twinspot goby to the point that it never came out of its hole and subsequently died soon thereafter from starvation.

if you're looking for something docile that will work for pest control, check this out. my green coris wrasse would decimate anything that it thought didn't even remotely belong in my tank. lol. it was also the most peaceful fish i have ever kept.

Sanh, I'll buy the guy if you're not set on giving it to SPS store although I know it will get a good home there as well.
