ASM G3 pump

I have what I believe is a ASM G3 skimmer, it came with a Rio 17HF 1090gph pump which I know is not the right one. The impeller on the pump has swelled and I need to get a new pump.

From what I read online the G3 should have a Sedra 5000 500gph.

My question is can I get any pump rated at 500 gph for this skimmer or does it have to be the sedra? The pump that was on it seems to powerful at 1090gph.

Err yea the sedra 5000 doesn't push 5000gph, not even close. 5000gph would blow the collection cup off of that skimmer in 2 seconds.. I recommend sticking with the sedra for many reasons... Trust me I've owned over a dozen G3

Ok thanks. I don't know why the previous owner changed the pump, price i guess.

I'll get the proper pump.
